Art In A Suitcase

Art & Cultural Studies - Hispanic Heritage

The Hispanic suitcase features the vibrant cultures of Spanish speaking people around the world. Starting with a history tour, the children learn that Santa Fe, New Mexico, was founded before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. The main part of the program highlights fascinating Hispanic holiday celebrations such as Mexico's Day of the Dead with skeletons galore. A lively folktale, told partly in Spanish, comes next. A splendid array of toys, dolls, puppets, carved animals, bark paintings and more is brought out of the suitcase.

The program ends with a Hispanic art project.

Ages kindergarten and up.
